Manchester United did not do as much business as they would have wished during the January transfer window, but what deals they did do are at least working out.

Patrick Dorgu has been a rare source of positivity in his early performances, with the former Lecce man, signed for €30 million a matter of weeks ago, showing a strong attitude and looking like a good pick up.

In terms of players who departed, the jury is still out over Marcus Rashford, but there can be little doubt that Antony’s loan to Real Betis is a deal that is working out as a dream for the Red Devils.

The Brazilian appears destined to leave Old Trafford permanently, despite the player’s agent indicating that he will return to England at the end of his temporary transfer.

Man Utd’s motivation in offloading Antony was primarily to get his wages of the books but, ideally, to see his transfer value buffed ahead of the summer and more clubs interested.

To this end, the 24-year-old’s move is going perfectly.

Antony to Real Betis proving the PERFECT move for Man Utd

Already there has been interest growing in a player who has seen his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) tumble to €22.7m after a difficult period at Old Trafford. Antony has been a far cry from the €95m star Man Utd thought they were signing.

He is thriving at Real Betis, though. In three LaLiga appearances, he has three Man of the Match awards. It’s something he’s put down to the improved weather in Spain, yet there is no doubt this is playing into the hands of United.

While the Red Devils are said to be in talks with Betis over a potential summer sale, giants from around Europe are waking up to the potential in Antony’s boots. Juventus are the first club to stir, with the Italian side “ready to enter the bidding war”, according to Fichajes.

And this is just what Man Utd want. The more hype and the more interest there is in Antony, the higher his price will climb.

Things might not be going their way on the field at the moment, but this deal could symbolise the slow turnaround of the club’s fortunes off it.
