At 17 years and 210 days, Lennart Karl became the second-youngest player ever to start a Bundesliga match for Bayern Munich on Saturday only behind Mathys Tel, who made his first league start for the Bavarians at 17 years and 136 days.

The young attacker played a key role in Bayern’s 4–1 win over Hoffenheim, providing the assist for Harry Kane’s opener with a cleverly taken corner, before being substituted shortly after the hour mark.

After the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany emphasized that, given his age, Karl can play without pressure.

“For Lenny, there’s no pressure. I told him that he just needs to show his quality in his moments. Harry puts it away and Lenny has his first assist. That’s nice for him,” Kompany told DAZN.

Karl has now made five appearances for Bayern this season.
