In what turned out to be Thomas Müller’s final Champions League game for Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga giants drew 2-2 with Inter on Wednesday, meaning they are out of the Champions League quarter-finals 4-3 on aggregate.
The 35-year-old veteran, who is leaving Bayern at the end of the season, reflected on his last match for the club in Europe’s premier club competition, telling DAZN:
“I’m not really feeling that emotional right now. It was probably more emotional for my family. I’m having fun – no one just gives you the result. I’m not even that disappointed; we’re playing football. Did we give it our all and can we look ourselves in the mirror?
“We started the game well, but Inter are a good team too. You can analyze everything, but I saw players on the pitch who gave everything. Maybe we gave away ten minutes, but then we got back on track. In the first 15 minutes, we were better than them – we really should’ve scored there. It was evenly matched – that’s football.”
Bayern will now turn their full attention to the Bundesliga, where they sit six points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table. They face Heidenheim at the weekend.
