New England manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly been told by the FA that he can work remotely for part of the week when he begins duties in January.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss will not be pressured to attend daily meetings at St George’s Park, according to a report, despite committing to live in England ‘most of the time’ when he was appointed last month.

Tuchel’s arrangement would alter greatly to Gareth Southgate, who was based at the centre in Burton for three days a week during his eight years in charge of the men’s team.

Additionally, Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland attended an average of five Premier League matches between them, according to The Sun. The outlet claims that Tuchel will attend some meetings with junior coaches but he has been told he can work remotely.

The 51-year-old would of course be no stranger to living on these shores, having done so for 18 months while in charge of the Blues. However, Tuchel now splits his time in the capital and in Germany, where his two daughters live.

‘I love to live in England and I’m looking forward to living again in England.’ The German said last month. ‘I want to be close to the Premier League, I want to be close to the majority of the players.

‘But of course, the schedule will allow me to be close to my family and my children in Germany. I will be in England most of the time.’

Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract with the FA and he will earn at least £7.5million during that period.

Furthermore, it is claimed that Tuchel will receive an extra bonus payment of £3m if England’s men end their trophy drought by winning the World Cup for the first time since 1966.

Tuchel’s reported salary of £5m per year is said to be twice as much as Southgate was on.

However, Southgate apparently stood to earn a bigger bonus, worth £4m, had he been the man to deliver a World Cup triumph.

Tuchel’s first game as England manager is expected to be in March 2025.

Lee Carsley, who has been in charge on an interim basis since Southgate’s summer departure, will lead the team against Greece and Ireland in November.
