Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford and three players who were let go by the Portuguese boss have sent a clear message
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has suffered another torrid few days following last weekend’s crushing defeat to Brentford in the Premier League. That was the fourth time United have been beaten in this campaign already, with the looming clash against Sunderland now crucial to ease the mounting pressure on his position.
Despite losing 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium and links to potential replacements, Amorim retains the backing of United’s hierarchy, but time could be running out. There was at least one bright spot from Saturday as Benjamin Sesko found the target.
He has joined fellow summer arrival Bryan Mbeumo in netting his maiden goal for the club, though Matheus Cunha has not scored yet.

That forward trio took the places of Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony in the United ranks.
Those five stars were all considered expendable by Amorim, but several are already appearing to vindicate that call as misguided. Since returning to Real Betis, Antony has bagged a goal and assist, whilst Sancho has impressed in brief appearances for Aston Villa.
Nevertheless, it is the influence of the remaining trio in Champions League encounters that has been most telling, all whilst United gear up for their next fixture.
Garnacho proved instrumental to Chelsea’s match-winning strike against Benfica on Tuesday, with his delivery deflected into his own goal by Richard Rios. The Argentine has subsequently shared an Instagram story with the caption: “Champions League nights.”
Just a day later, Rashford set up Ferran Torres’ goal for Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain with a beautifully timed pass. Despite the European champions taking the win, Rashford impressed throughout the match, marking his sixth goal contribution since his move – a clear signal to Amorim.
Upon celebrating his first goal, the Danish star pointed to the Champions League badge on his Napoli jersey.
With three United cast-offs shining in recent matches, it’s certainly a worrying sign for Amorim, particularly following United’s disappointing result.
