Fikayo Tomori finds himself on the outside looking in at AC Milan and could be on the move in 2025, according to Italian media.

Something that seemed unthinkable for several years is happening at AC Milan this season. Fikayo Tomori, seemingly always tipped for a big Premier League move since joining the Rossoneri from Chelsea in 2021, has gone from hero to zero.

The England international is enduring a dire season in Milan and can barely get on the pitch now. Until October, Tomori was a regular starter under Paulo Fonseca, but his shaky performances provided the club’s other defensive options with opportunities, which were eventually grasped.

The straw that broke the camel’s back came against Fiorentina on October 6 when Milan were beaten 2-1, with Tomori struggling massively. Fonseca had seen enough and relegated the centre-back to the bench, while Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw have shone in his stead.

Tomori has only played 13 Serie A minutes in the nine games since that evening in Florence, though he has still been afforded game time in the Champions League, playing against Club Brugge, Real Madrid and Slovan Bratislava.

Tomori on the market?

Nevertheless, it is clear that Fonseca is not convinced by Tomori and this is now increasing the speculation surrounding his future. In light of his lack of minutes, Juventus have taken an interest in the defender, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Bianconeri are desperately scrambling to add a defender in January and Tomori has now emerged as one of the potential options. Closer to home, Newcastle were recently said to be interested in him.

It appears that 2025 will finally be the year that Tomori leaves AC Milan, but the landscape has massively shifted. The 27-year-old would not depart as a highly-regarded England international ready to sign for one of Europe’s elite sides but rather as an outcast.

His stocks are the lowest they have been since he joined Milan and while this may no longer make him a particularly attractive signing, he could be a ‘market opportunity’ for Premier League clubs. After all, English sides will be well aware of what he is capable of when he is on form.
