Sandro Tonali has equalled his most productive goalscoring season in his career to date after his opener in Newcastle United’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United at St James’ in the Premier League over the weekend.
Tonali enjoying most productive goalscoring season to date
The former Milan midfielder was one of two Italy internationals to find the net in the Premier League this weekend. He applied the finishing touches to a lovely team move to give Newcastle a first-half lead in an eventual 4-1 win over the Red Devils.
That was his third Premier League goal of the season. All three have come in 2025: One in a 3-1 win over Southampton in January, one in a 2-1 win over Brentford earlier in April and now the Manchester United opener on Sunday.
Tonali also has two Premier League assists to his name this season, as well as two goals and an assist in the FA Cup, plus two goals and two assists for the Italy national team in 2024-25.
That means that he has now equalled his best ever goalscoring season at club level, which came while he was at Milan in 2021-22 with a tally of five goals and three assists, all of which came in Serie A.
With international goals included as well, the 2024-25 season is Tonali’s most productive in front of goal outright.
