Tottenham 0-0 Man City

City are still trying to get forward out wide but Udogie gets the better of Walker once again.

Oh, my word. Alvarez misses a sitter!

Good from Bobb after a few groans from Spurs fans as they fgive the ball away.

I don’t think Van de Ven knows Alvarez is behind him – he sort of leaves the cross to go through – but he does get back to block. Alvarez had ages, however, and should score.

Keane critical

Roy Keane, happy as ever, has been missing one man.

You can’t help but think that every time you watch Man City and they’re getting into great positions, it’s just a final pass. You automatically think, imagine if Haaland was up there. But he’s not, so you have to be critical of city in terms of controlling the game.

The buildup has been very, very good. But that last bit that end product hasn’t been there.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY – Tottenham 0-0 Man City

We are back underway for the seocnd half.

No movement on either bench, but I don’t feel it will be too long.

Struggles in front of goal

Tottenham zero, Manchester City 10.

Spurs haven’t been bad at all but literally just haven’t been able to get close enough to City’s goal.

All to play for

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of games that have been 0-0 at half time recently. Maybe it’s just me. Could be a thing, though.

Someone should write a dissertation on it. They probably already have.

Anyway, it’s as we were. There’s a famous face or two in the house, too.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Six minutes are added on as Foden puts an effort wide.

I imagine City have had a fair fewn shots – I’ll get back to you on how many – but nothing too testing bar that first Foden one.

Both sides have been relatively comfortable.

A shock break in play with Johnson down after a bang to the head.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

City break and they are five on four. About seven players shoot, with Porro blocking Bobb’s shot last.

Kovacic is fuming. Porro celebrates his block like a goal.

Half time is nearly upon us. We’ll see if we get a breakthrough before then.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Walker tries to shield the ball out but Kulusevski gets the better of him and keeps it in. Rarely do you see that.

You know what this game is missing? A couple of creative midfielders.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

After three minutes, we are back in business.

Ball round the corrner from Porro but the gap isn’t big enough and Ortega gathers once again.

Just the one real chance so far, with Vicario saving from Foden before the offside goal. Good game, though.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Though City’s wide attack is working, there are opportunities through the middle for Tottenham but Udogie gets it wrong on this occasion and his pass is intercepted.

One of the assistants is having radio issues. Classic.

Spurs’ stadium shining

The Tottenham Hostpurs is looking at glistening as ever.

Surely the best stadium in the country in terms of infrastructure.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Gvardiol puts in what is probably the worst cross I have ever seen. Good play from Foden beforehand though.

A bit of mis-communication between Udogie and Vicario after that. It looks like the defender does well to intercept but he loses it, and has to be fouled by Foden to stop the attack.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Kovacic releases Foden but Van de Ven is back and deals with that and the rest. He is rapid, that bloke

A few boos for ex-Spurs man Kyle Walker as he picks it up on the right. It seems Guardiola has opted to trust his midfield men up against Spurs’ full-backs in the middle of the park and bet on his own to get forward in the gaps left out wide.

Oh, that’s a good chance for Tottenham. Porro is played through – Ally McCoist thinks he’s off, I disagree. He crosses looking for Richarlison, it’s there, but Ortega gathers.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Tottenham are definitely enjoying more of the ball now after a slow start.

Good hold-up play from Richarlison wins Spurs a free kick up the field.

Maddison comes out to warm up and receives a warm (punt not intended) reception. A welcome sight for Spurs fans.

Really good play from Spurs. Hojbjerg and Bentancur win their latest midfield battle and the former finds Johnson. He crosses, and Ake has to head behind.

Porro’s corner comes to nothing. They’ll have to be on-point if he wants to keep set pieces with Maddison close.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Spurs haven’t got out the blocks here. Silva is the latest man to get a shot away, then Kovacic.

Johnson then wins his side a corner as the hosts get up the field for the first time. Nothing comes of it, but better.

NO GOAL – Tottenham 0-0 Man City

City’s full-backs are playing wide rather than inverted and Walker puts a really good cross in from the right, which finds Foden after Udogie slips.

Vicario pulls off a worldie of a save, getting down quickly with the England man poking towards goal just a few yards out.

Bobb is there to put the ball in, but the flag is raised. After a minute-or-so waiting – no pictures or audio or anything on the broadcast – it’s confirmed offside.

A fast start from City. A let-off for Spurs, to be honest, becuase Bobb didn’t need to be ahead there.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

I’m not actually sure I’ve ever seen this Manchester City kit before. There’s a lot going on.

Oscar Bobb puts the ball in the net… but it’s been ruled out! He might be on… no, off.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

It’s as you were for Tottenham with Werner on the left and Richarlison centrally to start with.

These lines can’t be higher right now. Bentancur tries to feed Werner but he’s on the half way line and Ortega comes out to clean up.

Tottenham 0-0 Man City

I just want to say that I really enjoy pre-match anthems being played on the tannoy before kick-off. You’ll Never Walk Alone, North London Forever, etc.

When The Spurs Go Marching In plays around the ground here.

Anwyay, referee Paul Tierney blows the first whistle of the match and we are underway.

Here come the teams!

Right then, the teams are on their ways out in North London. The time for talking is done.

You’d be brave to predict this one tonight. We have crazy attacking talent, two tactical genuises and some very inverted full-backs on show,

Kick-off is now moments away.

Chelsea in action

Not that I want you to leave me or anything, but there’s another heavyweight FA Cup game tonight with Cheslea hosting Aston Villa.

That game has just kicked off from Stamford Bridge, and my colleague Ryan Walker is covering that one live.

Levi Colwill has just picked up an injury in the warm-up…

You can follow that one below if you want to!

Here come Tottenham

Tottenham players are finally out warming up too.

A big cheer around the ground as they come out to get ready for the match.

Postecoglou up for the challenge

Postecoglou spent most of his pre-match interview with ITV speaking about Jurgen Klopp, but did cover his own team too, including explaining Maddison’s benching.

It’s a big occasion and a big challenge. I’m looking forward to it, it feels like it’s been a while without football.

Maddison was as close as anyone else. But having him come on could be helpful, there will be a bit in it early on.

You may notice one particular name who is absent from the Manchester City squad – or rather bench, to be honest – tonight.

Kalvin Phillips has finally left the club, joining West Ham on loan until the end of the season.

It’s really not worked out for him at the Etihad, with Guardiola seemingly doing all he can not to let the England man step foot on the pitch.

He has a chance to re-build his career now, though. And he really needs it. In fact, he was training with his new side today!

Under the lights

There’s just something special about playing at night, isn’t there?

Saying that, my team Gillingham are awful under the lights, but it probably feels like that for everyone.

There’ll be a good atmosphere tonight inside the ground. Spurs can surely look forward to more of it in Europe under Postecoglou.

Let’s see if City are afraid of the dark…

Quite the stat

So I mentioned City’s struggles at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a little bit earlier…

Also 84 shots, five defeats and two pentalties missed.

Werner front and centre

We have three reporters in the ground tonight – Oliver Holt, Sami Mokbel and Jack Gaughan. So lots of content to come your way throughtout.

Mr Holt, it seems, has been reading through tonight’s programme.

Tottenham players arrive

Tottenham players are in the (very chilly) house ahead of tonight’s match.

Porro and Van de Ven seem to be enjoying a cupper, while the players take in the surroundings. Not that they’ve not seen them before, but point stands.

Maddison and De Bruyne on the bench

So then, neither Maddison nor De Bruyne have made the starting line-ups tonight, with both on the bench for their respective sides. I’m sure we’ll see both players at one point.

Other than that, it’s probably as you’d have expected for Tottenham, with Ederson’s inclusion on the bench probably the main takeaway from City’s squad after he left the field injured agaisnt Newcastle last time out.

Oscar Bobb, who scored that wonderful winner in that game, also gets a start ahead of Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku.

Manchester City team to face Tottenham

Ortega, Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodri, Kovacic, Silva, Foden, Bobb, Alvarez.

Subs: Ederson, Stones, Gomez, Lewis, Doku, Grealish, De Bruyne, Nunes, Susoho.

Tottenham team to face Manchester City

Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Kulusevski, Johnson, Richarlison, Werner.

Subs: Forster, Royal, Davies, Dragusin, Skipp, Maddison, Gil, Santiago, Scarlett.

City’s winning streak

Since Manchester City drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in the Premier League in mid-December, they have won six games in a row.

That time covers a Club World Cup win, an FA Cup hammering of Huddersfield and a Kevin De Bruyne-inspired comeback victory against Newcastle last time out.

Something tells me that man could feature from the start tonight, even though his mate up top may not.

Tottenham’s positive form

Despite being without their captain and talisman Son Heung-min due to his participation in the Asia Cup – South Korea have sneaked through the group stage by the way – Spurs have been in good form of late following their mini-blip a few weeks ago.

Last time out, which feels like forever ago, Postecoglou’s side drew 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Before that were wins over Burnley and Bournemouth, and the club are fifth in the league table.

It feels like they’ll always score but also always concede. I expect them to go strong tonight.

Maddison available to start

He hasn’t played since the start of November, but James Maddison is fit and available to start tonight, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.

Having recovered from an ankle injury picked up agaisnt Chelsea and could come into the line-up this evening. We’ll find out in around 15 minutes if he does.

He’s the kind of guy who will want to make up for lost time and make an impact straight away.

Some of you may remember a few weeks ago what Pep Guardiola said when he was asked what he wants to achieve next following his Treble win last season.

‘Score against Tottenham away.’

Well, tonight is his chance. Manchester City are yet to score at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and they will have to do so if they want to progess in the FA Cup this evening.

Though they will again be without Erling Haaland, but City certainly have the talent to score. I mean, come on.

It’s been a pretty quiet day in the Premier League, eh?

Before we crack on with tonight’s action, it would be rude of me not to point you in the direction of some of our content covering the shock news that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
