Spurs want to land Thiago

Tottenham Hotspur are serious about signing Brentford striker Igor Thiago when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year, according to Caught Offside.

The north London giants have had a poor league campaign under manager Thomas Frank, and they are currently six points adrift of the top four.

This could pave the way for further investment in the New Year and reports claim that Frank could be backed with funds for a new marksman.

Thiago has been identified as the prime target for the Europa League holders, but he won’t come on the cheap with the Bees set to demand a premium fee.

It is reported that the west Londoners could hold out for as much as £70 million for the striker, who has netted 11 goals in the Premier League this campaign.

Thiago is an outside candidate to make Brazil’s World Cup squad next summer and it is left to be seen whether that has any influence on a winter transfer.

If he were to struggle at Spurs, he could hamper his selection prospects. This could urge him to delay a move until the end of the season.
