Chatting to former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster on Amazon Prime Video, Maddison discussed the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who joined from Empoli.
‘We signed him. I hadn’t obviously signed yet,’ Maddison remembered. ‘I was like ‘who is he?’ kind of thing. I’d never heard of him.’
The midfielder continued to reveal that he took to watching YouTube highlights of his soon-to-be team-mate before he moved to Spurs.
‘I’m in the back of the car on his YouTube Vicario highlights to see if he was any good.’
Maddison joked that he was impressed with the Italian’s skill from the YouTube compilation that he watched, saying: ‘They were alright to be fair. Brilliant shot stopper!’
The England international also discussed how Vicario has helped him improve his game this season, and how the pair are learning from each other.
‘That’s the one thing… I think he’s hard to score past.
‘Sometimes we’ll practice penalties and shooting in training, I want him in goal because he’s the hardest to score past,’ he concluded
