Tottenham forward Alejo Veliz has moved to LaLiga side Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Veliz joined Spurs from Rosario Central for £12m in August, arriving as Ange Postecoglou‘s second signing after Micky van de Ven.

However, he has struggled for game time in England, making just eight substitute appearances in the Premier League, and failing to start a single match in all competitions.

He has now been sent on loan to Sevilla in the hope of getting more minutes under his belt before the end of the season.

Veliz scored his only Tottenham goal in a 4-2 defeat at Brighton in December, but has found himself behind the likes of Son Heung-min and Richarlison in the pecking order.

The arrival of Timo Werner has also strengthened Tottenham’s front line and left Veliz out of the picture for now.

But he is still only 20, and could have a bright future at the club yet. Veliz’s Spurs contract runs until June 2029.

The Argentine youngster has missed Tottenham’s last four matches with a knee injury, but is expected back soon.

He will be tasked with helping Sevilla turn their miserable campaign around, with the club currently languishing in 16th place in LaLiga.

They are only one point above the bottom three, and desperately need to start picking up points to stave off the threat of relegation.
