The Giallorossi legend was already part of the club after his retirement, but he resigned in 2019 under the ownership of Roma’s previous president, James Pallotta.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are now prepared to offer Totti a return as a technical director with clear duties. In his new role, Totti would support sporting director Frederic Massara in transfer negotiations, but he would also be a powerful presence inside the dressing room to convey the club’s spirit.

Roma advisor Claudio Ranieri confirmed earlier this week that the club’s owners were considering Totti’s return to the club.

The former striker returned to the Stadio Olimpico for the first time in around two years last week, in a 2-0 Europa League win over VfB Stuttgart. Corriere dello Sport reports that the visit came at the invitation of Ryan Friedkin.
