The new season may have commenced in many top European leagues but there will still be a huge focus on the transfer market over the next week, as teams look to strengthen before the deadline on the first day of September.
As always, Premier League teams have spent heavily so far.
Manchester United have signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to revamp their attack, with Manchester City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.
Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Estevao, Jorrel Hato, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, among others.
Arsenal have been very busy, too, bringing in Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Cristhian Mosquera.
The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen, while they also brought in Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong from the Bundesliga. Luis Diaz went in the other direction, signing for German giants Bayern Munich.
The transfer saga of the summer involves Alexander Isak, who is attempting to force through a departure from Newcastle to Liverpool.

He wrote on X: “Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign Yeremy Pino from Villarreal, exclusive story from last week confirmed. Negotiations underway between clubs to get the deal done asap, #CPFC pushing. Fee could be close to €50m.”

Another day, Chelsea linked to another player!
Paz situation explained
South American football expert Tim Vickery has provided an explanation of Nico Paz‘s current situation, with Spurs desperate to sign him from Como.
“Nico Paz plays for Argentina. He’s just started his international career,” Vickery told Sky Sports.
“But he’s European, born and bred. He’s the son of Pablo Paz, who was a World Cup defender for Argentina.
“He made his most of his career in Europe. So Nico Paz came up through the youth ranks with Real Madrid. He’s at Como, but Real Madrid have an interest in him and they have a buy-back. Paz, so they’re watching his progress very, very closely.
“Paz has a really sweet left foot. If you’re thinking of Tottenham’s and long-term strategies, he’s a little bit of a left-footed version of Bergvall, someone who, possibly, if you were to put him in the Premier League right now, might find that a little bit of a step up at this stage of his career.
“But Tottenham would be thinking long-term. The stumbling block there, though, is that Real Madrid have a long-term interest in this player.”
Chelsea will sign Garnacho this week
Chelsea will sign Alejandro Garnacho this week, reports TalkSPORT.
The Man Utd winger is not wanted at Old Trafford after a falling out with manager Ruben Amorim and he is one of a number of players the Red Devils are looking to move on before the deadline next week.
United were previously demanding £50 million (€57m) for Garnacho, but it is believed Chelsea could negotiate down to around £40m (€46m).

Petit: PSG have benefited from Mbappe exit
World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit reckons PSG have hugely benefitted by Kylian Mbappe‘s exit to Real Madrid last summer.
“Everyone at PSG (the board, the fans) said that, since he left, they finally had a real team, with soul,” the Frenchman said.
“Everyone played for each other and there were no selfish footballers on the pitch.
“And recently it seems that it was shown that they were right to close the door on Kylian, who also wanted to go to Madrid himself.”
PSG won the treble the season Mbappe left.

Newcastle look to hijack Dovbyk deal
Newcastle could look to hijack Artem Dovbyk‘s proposed move to Villarreal.
With Evan Ferguson seemingly the number one choice for the striker role at Roma these days, Dovbyk is on the cusp of a loan move to Villareal in La Liga, where he previously finished top scorer with Girona.
However, Newcastle are desperate for a new striker, potentially as a replacement for Alexander Isak, and have moved quickly to try and sign the Ukraine forward. (Filippo Biafora)

Porto set to sign Kiwior from Arsenal
Porto are closing in on a deal to sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal.
The Polish central defender has acted as a backup to Gabriel and William Saliba during his time at the club and will fall further down the pecking order if the Gunners sign Piero Hincapie from Leverkusen.
Porto have struck a deal to sign him initially on loan with an obligation to buy for €27 million. (Eduardo Burgos)
