Transfer Deadline Day is nearly here and several major deals are expected to be finalised before the winter window slams shut.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 1 February, including the latest updates on Martin Odegaard and Aaron Anselmino.
Martin Odegaard to leave Arsenal?
Real Madrid are interested in re-signing Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, according to a shock report in Spain.
The Norway international has just two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium and he has been linked with a surprise exit in recent weeks.
Rumours suggest that Odegaard is exploring his options ahead of a potential departure later this year and Spanish publication Fichajes now claim that a return to Real Madrid could be on the cards for €80 million.
Aaron Anselmino agreement
Chelsea have reached an agreement to send Aaron Anselmino on loan to sister club Strasbourg for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
The Argentina defender enjoyed a successful temporary stint at Borussia Dortmund during the first half of the campaign, but he was recalled earlier this month following an injury sustained by Tosin Adarabioyo.
Instead of being integrated at Stamford Bridge, Anselmino is now set to become the latest Blues star to join Strasbourg on loan, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Joshua Zirkzee hint
Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has hinted that he will not be leaving Old Trafford before the winter transfer window closes on 2 February.
Rumours of a winter exit have died down over the past few weeks and Zirkzee now looks set to stay at Old Trafford until at least this summer, despite reports that Juventus could pursue a last-minute deal.
The Dutchman has only started four Premier League matches so far this season and it has been claimed that he is eager to leave Man Utd in search of more regular game time ahead of the 2026 World Cup. However, his latest comments suggest that he will not depart Michael Carrick’s side before the end of Deadline Day.
Celtic double deal
Celtic are in advanced talks to sign Freiburg forward Junior Adamu and Lorient winger Joel Mvuka before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.
Talks over a deal for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis have stalled due to a disagreement over the payment structure of a deal worth €7.5 million, however Celtic are now closing in on a double deal for Adamu and Mvuka.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has confirmed that O’Neill’s side are in “advanced talks” to sign both players, while a total verbal agreement has been reached with Adamu, as per Florian Plettenberg.
Liverpool talks
Liverpool are reportedly in talks to complete a late deal for RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida, who is currently on loan at Sunderland.
The Reds are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements before the end of Transfer Deadline Day, with Joe Gomez, Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni all sidelined through injury.
Rumours had suggested that Liverpool were unlikely to strengthen their options at right-back this window, however a groin issue suffered by Frimpong against Qarabag in midweek has forced their hand and they are now eager to agree a deal for Geertruida, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea submit €30m offer
Chelsea have submitted a verbal offer worth €30 million for Nantes defender Tylel Tati, according to renowned French publication L’Equipe
Liam Rosenior’s side are yet to formally confirm their offer in writing, however Nantes have reportedly already rejected their initial approach.
The Blues were eager to sign Tati on a permanent deal before sending him back to the Ligue 1 club on loan, but their proposal has been turned down. It’s claimed that a deal is unlikely to take place before the end of the winter transfer window, but Chelsea are understood to be closely tracking his progress.
Arne Engels wanted by Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are reportedly eager to sign Celtic midfielder Arne Engels before the winter transfer window slams shut on Monday evening.
RB Leipzig were interested in finalising a deal for the 22-year-old last week, but reports indicated that Engels had no interest in leaving Martin O’Neill’s side midway through the 2025-26 campaign.
However, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now insisted that Nottingham Forest are eager to finalise a surprise deal for the Celtic midfielder before the conclusion of Transfer Deadline Day.
