FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 15 February, including the latest updates on Igor Thiago and Mateus Mane.
Igor Thiago to Chelsea?
Chelsea have entered the bidding war for Brentford striker Igor Thiago ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
That is according to a shock report from Spanish publication Fichajes, who claim that Bayern Munich were advancing on an agreement for Thiago before being challenged by both Chelsea and Man City.
The Premier League giants have reportedly intensified their bid for Thiago’s signature and are now working on a proposal to tempt Brentford into a sale this summer.
Man Utd chase Mateus Mane hijack
Manchester United want to hijack Liverpool’s proposed summer deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers wonderkid Mateus Mane, Fichajes
Liverpool are currently considered to be the firm favourites in the race for his signature, but Mane has been added to Man Utd’s transfer wishlist, with the Red Devils ready to challenge the Reds for his signature this summer.
Wolves are expected to demand a fee of least €57.5 million (£50m) to sanction a sale later this year, although they will undoubtedly be keen to retain Mane’s services if they are relegated back to the Championship.
Dominik Szoboszlai tipped to leave Liverpool
Liverpool superstar Dominik Szoboszlai “dreams” of playing for Real Madrid, according to his Hungary national team head coach.
The 25-year-old recently confirmed that talks over a new deal have taken place, although a final decision has not yet been made, with the Hungary midfielder’s current contract due to expire in 2028.
It’s understood that Liverpool are keen to finalise an agreement with the former RB Leipzig star, but Diego Rossi, the Hungary boss, has revealed that Szoboszlai could instead follow in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps by joining Real Madrid.
Marc Cucurella new contract talks
Chelsea are ready to formally discuss a new long-term contract with Marc Cucurella as they look to tie the Spain international down to fresh terms.
The 27-year-old’s current deal at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in 2028 and despite rumours of a move back to La Liga, amid reported interest from Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, it’s understood that Cucurella wants to extend his stay in west London.
Furthermore, Chelsea are keen to agree a contract extension with Cucurella and they are ready to reward the Spaniard with an improved deal, as per TEAMtalk.
Scott McTominay decision
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is edging closer to signing a contract extension at the club, despite reported interest from former club Man Utd.
Several Premier League clubs are interested in bringing him back to England this year and reports have suggested that Man Utd are currently the frontrunners for his signature as they look to lure him back to Old Trafford.
However, Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has now confirmed that McTominay is in advanced talks over a new contract with Napoli. It’s reported that negotiations are progressing nicely and he is set to sign a deal valid until 2030 with an option for a further 12 months.
