Kobbie Mainoo makes final January transfer decision

Chelsea have been told that Kobbie Mainoo has decided that he will not leave Manchester United during the January transfer window following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

The midfielder had been pushing to leave Old Trafford on a loan deal due to his lack of opportunities under the Portuguese, but with Michael Carrick stepping in as interim, he hopes to be given more chances.

As such, he has withdrawn any transfer request that he had put on the table.

Barcelona dealt huge Dro blow

Barcelona face the potential loss of two players during the January transfer window, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen close to leaving the club for Getafe on loan.

The Catalans, however, have been rocked by the news that Dro Fernandez, their young midfield star who has been likened to Andres Iniesta, is poised to leave the club.

Dro’s €6 million release clause has attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG, with the 18-year-old having told Hansi Flick that he is leaving this month.

Chelsea closing in on Jacquet

Chelsea have launched a bid for Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, who is poised to be the club’s first signing under new manager Liam Rosenior.

The Ligue 1 side are likely to negotiate hard over the transfer and are aiming for a fee above €60m, while reports from France indicate that Chelsea are ready to offer more than €50m for the player.

The Blues do have other options on their defensive shortlist, however.

Celtic make two offers

Celtic have made a loan offer for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Aurele Amenda and a bid for Shamrock Rovers striker Michael Noonan.

Frankfurt are reluctant to sanction Amenda’s exit due to uncertainty over the future of head coach Dino Toppmoller. Director Markus Krosche has already rebuffed several approaches from other clubs.

As for Noonan, Celtic are locked in a battle with Hoffenheim for his signature. The Bundesliga side are in advanced talks but have already seen two bids rejected.
