Summer signing Raphaël Guerreiro – having recovered from a torn muscle cluster – will also be in Tuchel’s match-day squad for the first time.
At a Monday presser, FCB trainer Thomas Tuchel wished to emphasize that he did not consider the match any less important than other fixtures. Accordingly, Tuchel kept mum about personnel choices. At one point, Tuchel noted that “it might be the case that we won’t rotate that much at all.”
Tuchel did nevertheless confirm that back-up keeper Daniel Peretz would get the nod in goal over current #1 Sven Ulreich. Tuchel also revealed that central defender Matthijs de Ligt – subbed off at the half against Bochum after experiencing some issues with his knees – would be kept out as a precaution. Portuguese left-back Raphaël Guerreiro – on the other hand – will be available for the first time off the bench.
“It’s important for him,” Tuchel said of Peretz’s forthcoming start, “It’s important in cases of emergencies. It only has advantages from my point of view. That’s been discussed with him.”
