After starting Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Heidenheim on the bench, Karim Adeyemi was introduced at half-time.

However, Borussia Dortmund interim coach Mike Tullberg wasn’t happy with the 23-year-old’s performance and work-rate and therefore decided to take him off towards the end of the game.

“I told him that nobody is above the team and that everyone should give their all,” Tullberg explained at his post-match press conference, adding that he felt Adeyemi was not at his best.

“He started the first two games under me and did well, and we wanted to make an impact by bringing him on at half-time.

“In the end it wasn’t enough for me and that’s why I decided to take him off.”

It was Tullberg’s final game in charge, with Niko Kovac set to begin work as the new head coach on Sunday.
