Two options to replace Ndoye at Bologna as Napoli advance for Switzerland international – Football Italia

Napoli are hoping to close an agreement for Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, and his current club, Bologna, have already begun to seek out potential replacements, Football Italia can confirm. 

Napoli are hoping to seal an agreement for Ndoye in the near future. The two clubs have held direct talks over the last few days, and the Partenopei remain confident of finding an agreement, despite Bologna’s original €40m asking price. 

The Rossoblu, fresh off an encouraging first campaign under Vincenzo Italiano, are beginning to look at potential alternatives in the event that Ndoye leaves, and have already established two options. 

Two Bologna options to replace Napoli-linked Ndoye

The first choice for Bologna is AZ Alkmaar youngster Ruben van Bommel, the son of former PSV, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel. 

The 20-year-old winger, who stands at 6’3, has netted 10 Eredivisie goals from his first 55 appearances in the competition, as well as three goals from five outings in this season’s Europa League. 

Football Italia understands that there has been contact between the relevant parties over the last few hours, but van Bommel is currently prepared to wait and see what developments might unfold later in the transfer window. 

If Bologna are unable to seal a deal for van Bommel, then there is an alternative option lined up in the form of Patrick Wimmer from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg. 

The 24-year-old Austria international is capable of playing on either flank, like Ndoye, and came up with eight goal involvements in all competitions last season.
