Italy U20, coached by Carmine Nunziata, make their U20 World Cup debut against Australia on Sunday, September 28, before facing Cuba and Argentina in Group D: here’s everything you need to know about the Azzurrini.
Italy U20 begin their journey in the U20 World Cup in just a few days as they are set to make their debut against Australia on Sunday, September 28, at the Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander in Valparaíso, Chile.
The Azzurrini reached the Final in the previous edition in 2023, losing 1-0 against Uruguay, but Cesare Casadei became the best scorer and MVP in the tournament.
The coach hasn’t changed as Nunziata has remained in charge after positive results and performances in the previous edition of the tournament.
The squad trained in Rome twice earlier this week, on Monday and Tuesday, before flying out to Chile, the host country of the U20 World Cup, taking place from September 27 to October 19. The Azzurrini landed in Chile on Thursday, September 25. Italy U20 will also face Cuba and Argentina in Group D.
The top two teams in each of the six groups will qualify for the Round of 16, alongside the four best third-placed.
Italy participate in the competition for the ninth time, the fourth in a row, and their runners-up finish in the previous edition is the best result ever reached by Italy U20 in the tournament.
