German youth international Laurin UIlrich is slated to return to the Stuttgart reserves in the German third division after a loan-out to the 2. Bundesliga didn’t work out. Ulrich’s parent club and loan club Ulm both confirmed a premature end to the arrangement yesterday. The 19-year-old made just five appearances (one start) for the Swabian “Spatzen”.

“Unfortunately, Laurin was unable to gain as much playing time with us as we had all hoped for,” Ulm sporting director Markus Thiele noted in a statement. ” Laurin is a young, very talented player who will go his way. We wish him only the best.”

“We have decided to end Laurin’s loan prematurely,” VfB sporting director Christian Gentner added, “Laurin is to gain match practice in our U21 team during the second half of the season and help us achieve our sporting goals in the 3. Liga.”
