Union Berlin’s director of men’s professional football, Horst Held, felt robbed of two points after his team’s 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Heldt was particularly angry about Tim Skarke’s stoppage-time goal, which was disallowed for offside.

“Who in God’s name is supposed to decide that it was an offside goal? We’re talking about millimeter decisions. I’m really angry about the way it was handled today. We’ve lost two points and the referee is taking them home,” said Heldt in a post-match interview, describing the officiating as “embarrassing”.

Eintracht, meanwhile, were unhappy with the decision to send off Arthur Theate in the 77th minute. The Belgian defender was shown his second yellow card for bringing down Andras Schäfer after being fouled himself by Tim Skarke.

“It is difficult to find the right words without getting another phone call,” said Eintracht board member for sport Markus Krösche.

“I think it’s clear in the situation that it was a foul beforee. [The referee] is standing five meters away, and I think he has to see that,” he said, adding that Eintracht planned to appeal the dismissal.
