VfL Wolfsburg will be playing four opponents from across the European continent, before the 2025/26 season gets underway.

VfL Wolfsburg have officially released their list of preseason fixtures, warmups for the next Bundesliga season and opportunities for some players to make their mark and show what they have got to be a part of the main squad.

The club will be playing four matches, starting with a meeting at the Avnet Arena against 1. FC Magdeburg on Saturday, 26 July at 15.30 (CET). Magdeburg finished fifth in an intense 2. Bundesliga season, just five points outside of the promotion play-off with a 14-11-9 record and 53 points. Wolfsburg are 2-2-0 all-time against Magdeburg, the most recent result having been a 4-1 victory in a friendly on 5 September 2020. Only goalkeeper Pavao Pervan, midfielder Maximilian Arnold, and midfielder Yannick Gerhardt will be returning from that Wolfsburg side.

The second match will be against Spanish side RCD Espanyol, at the AOK Stadion, the main stadium of Wolfsburg’s highly successful women’s team. The match will be held on Wednesday, 30 July, with the kickoff set for 19.00 (CET). Espanyol finished around the same place in the La Liga table as Wolfsburg did in the Bundesliga, fourteenth with a 11-9-18 record and 42 points. This is the first time that Wolfsburg will face Espanyol in their 80-year history.

Die Wölfe will face Feyenoord at the De Kuip in Rotterdam on Saturday, 2. August, with 16.30 (CET) being the start time. Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie, confirming a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages for next season with a 20-8-6 record and 68 points. Once again, this is a match between two sides that have never faced each other.

The preseason will come to an end against Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express Stadium, taking place on Saturday, 9 August at 18.00 (CET) / 17.00 (GMT). Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League with a 16-13-9 record and 61 points, but can still qualify for European competition if Crystal Palace’s ability to participate in the UEFA Europa League is overruled by UEFA. This will be the first time that Wolfsburg faces Brighton in their history.

The schedule reveal for the 2025/26 Bundesliga season is on Thursday, 27 June – Wolfsburg’s season, as well as the seasons of the other seventeen clubs in the German top-flight, will begin on the weekend of Friday, 22 August – Sunday, 24 August.
