Inter were fortunate not to be behind at the half-time interval after a lengthy VAR intervention ruled out a goal for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.

After a corner kick was floated in the box, both Virgin Van Dijk and Hugo Ekitike went for the header, bouncing off of the Dutchman’s head and onto his teammate’s arm, and onto Konate who headed the ball past Yann Sommer.

It took the VAR a long time to come to a decision and the referee was eventually called over to the screen to make an on-field review.

A handball is a handball, and UEFA’s Champions League rules are particularly strict on the matter, but Liverpool will feel hard done by by the decision.
