Viktor Gyokeres gives GREEN LIGHT to summer transfer

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres is eager to join Atletico Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Sweden international is expected to join one of Europe’s biggest clubs during the 2025 summer transfer window, following a stellar two-year stint in Portugal, and Diego Simeone’s side have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to land his signature.

The Spanish giants are hoping to bolster their forward line with a big-name addition this summer as Simeone looks to sign a player capable of replacing Antoine Griezmann in his preferred starting XI.

Griezmann has been tipped to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer and Atletico Madrid are hoping to sign Gyokeres as his successor.

They are set to face significant competition for the 26-year-old’s signature, amid reported interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and several others, but Gyokeres has now given the “green light” for his representatives to agree terms with Atleti.

That is according to El Nacional, who claim that Gyokeres has been identified as a key transfer target by the Atletico Madrid hierarchy ahead of the summer window.

Atletico Madrid want Viktor Gyokeres

Atletico Madrid are reportedly aiming to form a “devastating forward line” this summer, with Gyokeres targeted as the perfect partner for former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, although Simeone is determined to retain the Argentina international and Atletico Madrid are expected to rebuff offers this summer.

Gyokeres has netted an incredible 83 goals in 91 appearances for Sporting since his arrival from Coventry City in 2023, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €74.8 million.

The Sweden star has been touted to seal a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Man Utd this summer, although a move to Old Trafford appears extremely unlikely unless they secure Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League.
