Patrick Wimmer remains sidelined for VfL Wolfsburg.

VfL Wolfsburg will have to manage without Patrick Wimmer for the foreseeable future.

The Austrian international missed Wolfsburg’s last two games against Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig due to a thigh injury that is still causing him problems, as the Bundesliga club announced on Thursday.

“Wimmer is a key part of our attack and, with his dynamism and mentality, a real difference-maker for us. Of course, we had hoped to see him back on the pitch sooner, but his injury needs time – and we’re giving him that time,” said Wolfsburg coach Daniel Bauer.

Wimmer, 24, has scored three goals and provided six assists in 19 matches for Wolfsburg this season.
