A departure for Justin Njinmah is no longer on the table, with new Werder boss Horst Steffen keen to work with the striker.
After a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, reports suggested that a summer transfer was likely for 24-year-old attacker Justin Njinmah.
However, the coaching change from Ole Werner to Horst Steffen has prompted a rethink, with Njinmah now expected to remain at the Weserstadion.
“Horst is eager to work with him,” Werder’s head of first-team football, Peter Niemeyer, told Kicker, before putting pressure on Njinmah to deliver.
“Justin needs to stabilize himself compared to last season. Unfortunately, he missed too many games last year. Now Justin must prove himself in preseason and back up his claims.”
Njinmah scored three goals and provided four assists in 30 appearances for Werder last season. He still has two years remaining on his contract.
