West Ham midfielder George Earthy has been discharged from hospital after the head injury he suffered in Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham.

The 19-year-old came on for his Premier League debut in the 82nd minute at the London Stadium as a replacement for Michail Antonio.

However, Earthy was taken off on a stretcher in stoppage time, with Maxwel Cornet coming on.

West Ham confirmed on Sunday that Earthy was awake in hospital after being transferred for a further assessment.

The club has now revealed Earthy has returned home after being discharged from hospital.

Earthy will now follow FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return to action.

‘George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes the graduated return to play programme,’ said Richard Collinge, West Ham performance director.

Earthy was given oxygen on the pitch and received treatment for six minutes after an accidental collision with West Ham team-mate Edson Alvarez.

West Ham boss David Moyes confirmed post-match that Earthy had sustained a head injury.

‘West Ham United wishes to place on record its thanks to our own medical team, as well as their counterparts at Fulham and Medics24, our pitchside rescue team, for the immediate response to yesterday’s incident,’ a West Ham statement read.

‘The Club also extends its thanks for the many messages of support sent to George.

‘Everyone at West Ham United wishes George a safe and speedy recovery.’

Fulham won 2-0, with Andreas Pereira scoring both goals for the visitors.

It was a second senior appearance for Earthy, who featured as a substitute in West Ham’s Europa League win at home to Freiburg last month.

A product of West Ham’s academy, Earthy was part of the West Ham U18 team that won the FA Youth Cup and the U18 Premier League South last season.
