West Ham United have opened talks to sign Lille midfielder Angel Gomes amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Foot Sur 7.

The England international has developed into a key player for Lille in the French top-flight. He was recently handed his Three Lions debut by caretaker boss Lee Carsley.

Gomes’ deal with Les Dogues expires at the end of June and he has decided against a renewal. The 24-year-old is more likely to end up in the Premier League next term.

United and Spurs have made initial contact with his representatives, but reports claim that the Hammers have taken the lead to land his signature on a Bosman transfer.

Gomes is currently on a low weekly package of around £11,000 and he is expected to demand around £100,000 per week alongside a significant signing-on package.

The midfielder could be tempted to join the Hammers over United or Spurs as he could receive assurances of regular playing time under manager Graham Potter.
