West Ham are interested in Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
The Hammers are in need of reinforcements up front but the move is not favoured by Forest as they would need a replacement.
Marseille forward Elye Wahi is another under consideration for the Hammers.
Graham Potter‘s side have been hit by injuries to key forward players, including Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Niclas Fullkrug.
Antonio is set for a long spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in a car crash in December, while Bowen has been ruled out with a broken foot.
Fullkrug then picked up a significant hamstring injury as he limped off after just 15 minutes of their defeat by Aston Villa in the the FA Cup third round on Friday.
West Ham are interested in Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi as they aim to sign a striker

Nigerian international Awoniyi scored his first league goal of the season in the 3-0 win at Wolves

Marseille’s Elye Wahi (centre) has also emerged as a target for West Ham in the window
It left Danny Ings as the club’s only fit striker but Potter said on Monday that panic buying a player in the January window will not solve West Ham’s problems.
And Awoniyi, who scored his first league goal of the season in the 3-0 win at Wolves, has emerged as a target for the Hammers.
‘I wouldn’t say it’s imperative [to sign a striker],’ said Potter. ‘Obviously with the situation with Mick as well, there’s certainly a logical rationale to do something, but again it’s not quite as simple as that.
‘I wouldn’t want to make the wrong decision or do something for the sake of it just because there’s a need, especially in this window which is very complicated.
‘We’ve got some attacking options so my focus at the moment is on the team and on how to get the team to function as well as possible, with a view to being competitive and trying to win against Fulham.’
Potter is likely to turn to Ings against Fulham, though admitted he has the option of playing Mohammed Kudus or Lucas Paqueta as a makeshift striker against Marco Silva’s side.
Meanwhile, Forest have re-signed goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, 37, until the end of the season.
