Carlos Soler to the Irons?

West Ham are in pole position to sign Paris Saint Germain’s midfield maestro Carlos Soler in a transfer deal worth an estimated 22 million euros. The 27-year-old ex-Valencia central midfielder has been capped 14 times by Spain’s national side and has also played in the Olympics in 2021.

PSG had signed Soler in 2022 from La Liga club Valencia, and after 50 games in Ligue 1 with a respectable five goals, the club have decided now is the time to let the Valencia-born man leave the club. Last season, Soler only appeared in 24 Ligue 1 games.

A versatile midfielder, Soler is able to play as a central midfielder (which is his preferred position), but can also play as a right midfielder or further forward in an attacking midfield playmaker role. Since leaving Valencia, Soler’s value has declined sharply due to a lack of first-team football, and West Ham could be getting a bargain should a deal be completed before the end of the transfer window. Soler has a contract until 2027 in Paris.

In signing Soler, West Ham will need to beat Soler’s former club Valencia to his prized signature.
