What ‘amazed’ Allegri about new Milan signing Jashari and ‘extraordinary’ Modric – Football Italia

Massimiliano Allegri was full of praise for his new Milan recruits after their 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, particularly the ‘extraordinary’ Luca Modric and Ardon Jashari, whom the coach was ‘amazed’ by during his first run-out. 

Jashari, who became the most expensive Serie A signing of the summer transfer window with his €37m move from Club Brugge earlier this week, got his first minutes as a Milan player against Leeds in Dublin. 

The Switzerland international lined up alongside Yunus Musah and 17-year-old Emanuele Sala in the Rossoneri midfield, while Modric, who had been given an extended break this summer, was an unused substitute.

Allegri, speaking to Sky Sport Italia after full-time, explained that he was ‘amazed’, by Jashari given that he was left to train individually for a large part of pre-season while he was still at Club Brugge. 

“They’re great players with a bit of intelligence and a bit of humility,” Allegri said when asked about his new recruits (via Milannews.it). 

“To stay at high levels, you have to be smart. Modric, and it’s not easy for me to say this, is an extraordinary player. Jashari, I was amazed at how he did, because he didn’t do much work with the ball and almost always trained alone. 

“There is work to do and things to improve, to improve physical conditions and mental conviction. We can’t get too excited, it must be the normality for Milan to win games.”
