What is Barcelona’s biggest ever win in history?

To find Barcelona’s biggest win in the history of the club one must look back more than 100 years ago.

In 1901, the Blaugrana, who were founded just two years previously, destroyed Tarragona 18-0 in the Copa Macaya, with nine goals from the side’s Swiss founder and future president Hans Kamper/Joan Gamper.

The competition was a Catalan provincial championship and Barca’s principle competition before the national league was formed in 1929. Despite that massive result they did not lift the title, losing out to Hispania in spite of scoring 51 goals in eight games.

In 1992, Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team bettered that result with a 20-1 demolition of Dutch side Smilde, but that game was a friendly and thus does not count in the official record books.
