Tuttosport newspaper reports that Manuel Locatelli will be confirmed as the Juventus captain following Igor Tudor’s appointment, while Weston McKennie will be an alternative in central midfield and on the wings.

Tudor took charge of his first Juventus training session on Monday, preparing for his debut in the Old Lady’s dugout on Saturday against Genoa.

Tuttosport reports that the Croatian tactician won’t change the Juventus captain, picking Italy midfielder Locatelli.

The ex-Sassuolo star took the armband from Danilo after the defender’s exit in the January transfer window. Motta had previously given the captaincy to many players, including Federico Gatti, Teun Koopmeiners, and McKennie.

According to the report, the USMNT midfielder is unlikely to be a regular starter under Tudor, given that Locatelli and Khephren Thuram are expected to get the nod in the middle of the park.

At the same time, however, McKennie can play in different roles, from central midfielder to attacking midfielder and even wing-back, a role he previously covered under Massimiliano Allegri and Motta himself.

McKennie had been a regular starter under Motta in recent weeks and has scored two goals and provided three assists in 23 Serie A matches this term.
