When Can PSG Be Crowned Champions?

As PSG heads toward securing their record 12th Ligue 1 title, marking their third consecutive and tenth in twelve seasons, they stand on the brink of sealing the deal. The end of the season for the Parisians promises to be exciting, with the looming Coupe de France Final and UEFA Champions League semifinal on the horizon.

PSG have held the top spot since Matchday 12 and currently hold an 11-point advantage over Monaco (55 points) and a 13-point lead over Stade Brestois (53 points). Luis Enrique and his team have a game in hand against FC Lorient on Wednesday, as does Monaco, who will face LOSC Lille on Wednesday too.

Will PSG Secure Their 12th Official Title on Wednesday Night?

PSG will be crowned Ligue 1 champions on Wednesday night if:

In this scenario, PSG would have 69 points with four matchdays remaining in the season (12 points possible), making it an unreachable total for Monaco, who would stay at 55 points if they lose to Les Dogues.

Brest would no longer be able to surpass PSG after their loss to Monaco as Les Pirates can only reach 65 points. Eric Roy and his team will now need to focus on clinching one of the Champions League spots for next season.

PSG Can’t Afford to Lose

The Parisians have already secured one of the two victories they need to clinch the Ligue 1 title on Wednesday. If PSG does slip up against Lorient, they won’t clinch the title until Matchday 31, when they host Le Havre on Saturday.

Still, PSG’s significant goal difference (+44 compared to +17 for Monaco) ensures that with just one win and a draw on Wednesday, the capital club firmly maintains control of the title race.
