Jesus Gil Manzano from Spain will be the referee for Thursday evening’s Europa League league phase tie between Aston Villa and Bologna at Villa Park.
Who will referee Aston Villa vs. Bologna?
Thursday night’s tie will be officiated by an all-Spanish refereeing team made up of Gil Manzano, assistants Angel Nevado Rodriguez, Guadalupe Porras Ayuso and fourth official José Luis Munuera Montero.
This will be the first time that Gil Manzano has taken charge of a match involving Bologna. He has previously refereed in matches involving the likes of Juventus, Milan, Inter, Napoli, Roma and Lazio across the Champions League and Europa League.

Unai Emery’s side are more familiar to Gil Manzano, as he took charge of the Champions League league phase match between the Villains and Serie A giants Juventus last season. That tie ended in a 0-0 draw.
Gil Manzano has previously taken charge of 26 Champions League matches, 18 in the Europa League, 256 in LaLiga, 69 in LaLiga 2 and 44 in the Copa Del Rey.
