Arsenal entered the 2024/25 season, their fifth full campaign under Mikel Arteta, desperate to improve on back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Premier League.

The Gunners pushed Manchester City all the way to the final game last season but once again narrowly missed out on glory in England’s top-flight, as Pep Guardiola’s side celebrated a fourth straight title.

Despite huge progress in the league over recent years, silverware has not been flowing for Arsenal, with Arteta only having one FA Cup and two Community Shields to his name so far.

There is therefore pressure for the club to deliver trophies in 2024/25 after coming so close in previous seasons.

The race to become Arsenal top scorer should again be an interesting one.

Bukayo Saka has topped the club’s scoring standings for three straight seasons, an impressive record for a player who usually brings much more than goals.

England winger Saka scored 20 goals in all competitions last season. That came after he shared the scoring crown with Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard after netting 15 times in 2022/23 and came out on top in 2021/22 despite scoring just 12 times that year.

Saka is therefore the man to beat in the battle to score the most goals for Arsenal in the 2024/25 season.

If he becomes the leading Arsenal goalscorer again this season, he will be more than halfway towards matching club legend Thierry Henry, who topped the goal charts in a stunning seven straight campaigns.

Saka knew he was likely to face competition from the likes of Martinelli, Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

But with Mikel Merino and Raheem Sterling now signed too, there are some new Arsenal transfer additions who will also hope to stake their claim. That did not always look like it would be the case, as the biggest purchase until the final days of the window was a defender: Italy international Riccardo Calafiori.

This page will be updated with Arsenal’s top scorers in the Premier League and all competitions after every matchday this season.

Arsenal: Premier League top scorers 2024/25

Arsenal have scored 15 goals in seven Premier League matches played so far this season.

Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhaes are the only players to have netted more than once so far.

Havertz is leading the way. He has scored in four straight matches across all competitions, so has hit the international break in superb form.

Arsenal made a strong start to their title pursuit with a 2-0 home win over Wolves on Matchday 1. The Gunners netted once in each half, with Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scoring the goals.

The score was also 2-0 in Arsenal’s second match of the season, an impressive win away against an Aston Villa team who made the top four last year. Both goals came in the second half, with Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey netting for the Gunners.

Havertz now leads the scoring standings after getting his second goal of the campaign at home to Brighton, a match which saw Saka get his third assist in as many games. Arsenal’s 100% start to the campaign is over, though, with Brighton claiming a 1-1 draw after Declan Rice was sent off.

The Gunners recorded a crucial 1-0 away win over rivals Tottenham in the North London derby on MD4. Saka made it four straight games with an assist, setting up the headed winner by Gabriel Magalhaes.

Arsenal improved their scoring record in their huge away match against title rivals Man City. A last-gasp equaliser for the champions meant the Gunners had to settle for a 2-2 draw just as it looked like they were going to hold on for a famous win with 10 men after Leandro Trossard had seen red.

Gabriel scored a header that was set up by Saka yet again, with the England winger making it five assists in as many games, while Riccardo Calafiori scored his first goal for the club with a spectacular strike.

Having also netted five times in the EFL Cup in their previous outing, the Gunners goals continued in a dramatic late 4-2 win over Leicester City at home on September 28.

Trossard scored and Havertz netted his third goal of the season, while Gabriel Martinelli’s opener got him off the mark for the campaign. Trossard thought he had a second, which also would have meant a sixth straight assist for Saka, but the strike was ultimately credited as a Wilfred Ndidi own goal.

Arsenal’s seventh league match of the season saw them defeat promoted side Southampton 3-1 at home. The Gunners fell behind, but Havertz netted again, scoring for the fourth straight game in all competitions and then the win was sealed by Saka and Martinelli.

For Saka, it was his first EPL goal since the opening weekend of the season.
