A player can adore a club all they want, but when Real Madrid comes knocking it’s a different story.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has won everything at Liverpool now. Every single major cup available, he’s achieved it. The defender has “completed football”, but there is still more to do in terms of legacy.
Recent reports have suggested that “Real Madrid are already planning their next European era, as they are aiming to sign Rodri, Trent Alexander-Arnold and either William Saliba or Cristian Romero.”

Alexander-Arnold has yet to commit to a new contract with Liverpool, meaning he could potentially leave the club on a free transfer next summer if no agreement is reached with the club.
It’s thought that he has been in frequent conversations with Jude Bellingham, who met and forged a close friendship with him during their time together playing for the England national team.
The report also states that he is “carefully evaluating the future direction of Liverpool, particularly as the club faces the prospect of life after Jurgen Klopp.”
Alexander-Arnold has not been dropped to the bench for the opening stages of the season, but he made a face like thunder after being substituted by Arne Slot in their 2-0 win over Brentford.
Should Alexander-Arnold sign a new deal at Liverpool?
A move to Real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in world football, would offer a fresh challenge and the chance to prove himself in a different league. Unless you’re Lionel Messi or Paolo Maldini, moving to another league is rarely a bad idea.
Real Madrid needs a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, who turns 33 next year, and his decline could come sooner rather than later. At just 25 years old, with over 300 appearances to his name, this might be the ideal moment for Alexander-Arnold to join Los Blancos.
Could Alexander-Arnold have a better opportunity to cement his place as one of the greatest right-backs of all time?
With Real Madrid on the rise, winning Champions League titles year after year, and the prospect of proving his skills across multiple leagues, there couldn’t be a better time for him to make the switch than at the end of this season.
Otherwise, he could find himself waiting for the Slot project to develop, which may take years.
