Milan are due to take on Como in Serie A on Sunday evening, the only league fixture on the schedule for this midweek block of fixtures. Here’s why the Rossoneri and Lariani are facing each other in the league despite Champions League action taking place on the same night.

Why is Milan vs. Como taking place on Wednesday night?

The Milan vs. Como match was originally scheduled to take place on February 8, during the 24th round of Serie A fixtures, but was later pushed back due to a clash with the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, which revolved around San Siro.

For much of the 2025-26 season, the Lega Serie A had sought to play this game in Perth, Western Australia instead. There were talks and agreements in place between the Lega Serie A, all 20 member clubs, the FIGC and from UEFA to play the match abroad as a one-off, but the idea was eventually blocked by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in December.

In the end, the Lega Serie A opted to simply rearrange the match instead of relocating it.

It will now kick off in San Siro at 19.45 GMT on Wednesday evening.
