Why Lazio have not reinstated Dele-Bashiru to Serie A squad – Football Italia

Lazio have decided against reinstating Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to their Serie A squad, despite the fact that he is fit and available, and despite the fact that Nicolo Rovella is expected to be sidelined for a significant period, but there is a logical explanation. Here’s why. 

Why Dele-Bashiru is not back in Lazio’s Serie A squad

Dele-Bashiru has recovered from an injury issue that has kept him out of action for several weeks, but he has not yet been reinstated to Lazio’s Serie A squad, having been dropped from the list at the time of his injury. 

He is not able to feature for the Biancocelesti against Lecce on Sunday afternoon, despite the fact that Rovella has recently decided to have surgery on his troublesome pubalgia, which has  caused him issues over an extended period. 

There is a reason why Dele-Bashiru has not been brought back into Lazio’s Serie A squad, though. He will soon be jetting off for the Africa Cup of Nations, so changingn the squad list would have only created further confusion within the squad and would not have made much sense. 

That is on top of the fact that Dele-Bashiru did not impress with his underwhelming performances at the start of the season. 

A final decision will be made at the end of the Africa Cup of Nations. Lazio still need to take into account whether there might be any opportunities for the Nigeria international on the transfer market, and whether they will want more freedom to move things around in their current squad.
