Why William Osula’s transfer from Newcastle to Eintracht Frankfurt collapsed

Here’s why William Osula’s proposed move to Eintracht Frankfurt fell through on Deadline Day.

Eintracht Frankfurt would have liked to sign William Osula from Newcastle United before Monday’s deadline, but the transfer ultimately didn’t materialize.

According to Sky Germany, the main reason was that Eintracht wanted to take the Dane on loan with an option to buy, but Newcastle refused to grant that option.

In addition, according to Sacha Tavolieri, the Magpies were concerned they might not be able to submit the necessary documents to complete the signing of Yoane Wissa from Brentford before the deadline.

Had that deal fallen through and Osula moved to Frankfurt, Newcastle would have risked leaving their squad short up front.

As a result, Osula will remain at Newcastle and face a bench role for the time being – but Eintracht could renew their interest in January.
