The former Leverkusen star could return for a final time to show his appreciation for the fans.

According to Sport.de, Florian Wirtz could travel to Leverkusen once again to say goodbye to the Werkself fans for the final time.

The report suggests the 22-year-old could be back to greet the fans during the season opener at the BayArena on Tuesday next week.

It is the express wish of Bayer Leverkusen and Wirtz himself to give him a farewell in front of the fans.

A request has already been made to Liverpool to release him from training on August 5 and possibly August 6.

The final decision on whether he’ll be granted permission for the trip is not expected until the weekend.

Wirtz made over 197 appearances for Die Werkself’s first team, finding the net on 57 occasions while providing 65 assists.
