Over the summer, it was widely reported that Jonas Wind was set to leave VfL Wolfsburg and no longer had a future at the club.

However, despite the Dane having played just one minute so far this season, Wolfsburg are now considering extending his deal, according to WAZ/AZ.

The club’s decision-makers are said to remain convinced of the striker’s qualities and also want to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year, when his current contract expires.

“We will sit down with Jonas and his agent at the appropriate time and evaluate the situation together,” said managing director for sport Peter Christiansen.

“In football, I don’t rule anything out.”

Wolfsburg signed Wind for a reported €12 million in 2021. Since then, he has scored 34 goals in 113 games for the club.
