Wolfsburg interested in Sunderland full-back

VfL Wolfsburg have been linked to Trai Hume, who played 47 matches in the EFL Championship last season.

VfL Wolfsburg are reportedly interested in acquiring 23-year-old Northern Ireland full-back Trai Hume from Premier League side Sunderland AFC.

GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Monday that Wolfsburg sent an offer in the region of €11.5 million offer some time within the last week. 

However, reports from Sky Sports in the United Kingdom have stated otherwise, with journalist Keith Downie writing that an offer has not been made yet. 

According to his information, Wolfsburg are willing to pay around €8.7 million, but Sunderland seem uninterested in letting go of one of their key defenders and instead want to tie him down to a new deal.

Downie adds that if Sunderland were to enter negotiations, they would seek a significantly higher fee, believing the player’s market value exceeds Wolfsburg’s current valuation.

In a successful EFL Championship campaign, one where they promoted to the Premier League after eight years away, Hume tallied three goals and added six assists over forty-seven matches. 

With Northern Ireland, he was involved in eight matches in qualifying for the 2024 UEFA European Championship, failing to score or register an assist in any of them.
