Wolfsburg working towards deal for talented Lyon full-back

Die Wölfe are in negotiations to sign the talented French full-back.

VfL Wolfsburg and Olympique Lyon are in negotiations over a transfer for Saël Kumbedi, as per Sky Germany’s latest update.

The offer from the Lower Saxons concerns a loan move for the right-back, with a mandatory purchase option of around €6-7million.

According to online portal Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 outfit are also set to secure a 15% sell-on clause should Kumbedi move in the future.

A former Paris Saint-Germain academy player, Kumbedi made his breakthrough at Le Harve before penning a 3-year deal with Lyon in 2022.

Last season, the 20-year-old made just 19 appearances across all competitions in what was a turbulent season for Lyon.

Already highly-rated French U-21 international, it could prove to be a savvy bit of business for Wolfsburg should the deal work out.
