Nick Woltemade played a key role for VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday night, scoring and assisting in his side’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig to book a place in the DFB-Pokal final.

Speaking after the game, the towering striker was in no doubt that he had just experienced one of the highlights of his career to date.

“It’s one of the best moments of my career. We’re delighted to have won the semi-final. It was hard work. We threw ourselves in front of every ball, which was hugely important – particularly after the past few weeks,” said Woltemade after the win, which saw the Swabians end a six-game winless streak.

Stuttgart will go into the final on May 24 in Berlin as favorites against 3. Liga side Arminia Bielefeld, who sensationally knocked out Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

“We’re not even thinking about the final yet, but one thing’s clear – we’re going to Berlin to win the final. We need to be wary of Bielefeld. Their cup run commands great respect, and all their players can play football,” said Woltemade.
