Women’s Ballon d’Or 2025 – Italy duo Cantore & Girelli rank 24th & 16th – Football Italia

Italy duo Sofia Cantore and Cristiana Girelli have had their rankings revealed for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or.

Cantore, who left Juventus to join NWSL side Washington Spirit in June, ranked in 24th place. The 25-year-old became the first ever Italian to ever sign a contract in the US top flight for women’s football after an impressive 2024-25 season that saw her named Serie A best forward and in the league’s Team of the Year.

The Italian forward spent eight years at Juventus, where she played 71 league games and scored 22 goals.

Juventus forward Girelli ranks 16th in Women’s Ballon d’Or

Girelli, meanwhile, was voted in 16th place in this year’s award.

The 35-year-old has won just about everything there is to win since singing for Juventus in 2018. Since then, she has scored 101 goals in Women’s Serie A, lifting the trophy 5 times with the Bianconeri.

Girelli has also scored 61 times in 122 appearances for the Italian national team, including three at the year’s Women’s Euros.
