Atletico Madrid legend Antoine Griezmann is on his way to Major League Soccer in 2025, according to Spanish media.

The Frenchman is entering the twilight years of his career. Earlier this season, Griezmann retired from international football after seeing his influence wane at Euro 2024.

Usually one of the most reliable players in Didier Deschamps’ side, Griezmann struggled to have the same impact in Germany and decided to call it quits after the tournament.

At club level, the 33-year-old is still going strong. Griezmann remains a regular starter under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and he still contributes offensively. The Frenchman has netted four goals and provided six assists in 18 games this term.

Despite still being under contract until 2026, MARCA now reports that this will be Griezmann’s final year in Europe.

Griezmann set for MLS

The Spanish outlet claims that Griezmann is set to move to Major League Soccer in 2025, though his precise destination is not yet known. The Frenchman has made no secret of his desire to eventually play in the States and looks determined to fulfil that ambition next year.

There is a slim possibility of him already moving in the spring so as to be able to start the MLS season with his new club, but a summer departure is deemed much more likely.

Barring any monumental changes at Inter Miami, Griezmann will link up with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the US, though it is unlikely that David Beckham’s franchise will have the roster space to add the attacker to their star-studded line-up.

At this stage, with the MLS playoffs still in full swing, it is too early to tell where Griezmann may end up, but if the above-mentioned outlet is to be believed, it is all but guaranteed that he will head stateside in 2025.
