After coming on at half-time, Patrik Schick had to be substituted around the hour mark of Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-0 DFB-Pokal win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Asked about the severity of the injury after the final whistle, Bayer 04 coach Xabi Alonso said it didn’t “look good”.

“Patrik felt something in his calf and is being examined. We’ll see, but it doesn’t look good at the moment,” Alonso said at his post-match press conference.

Schick himself couldn’t say much.

“I suffered a thigh knock in Berlin. I can’t say more now, I don’t know,” he told Bild..

Schick’s injury comes as a big blow to Leverkusen, who are already without the services of Victor Boniface.

The Czech international has scored five goals in his last three games for Die Werkself.
