Xabi Alonso plays down pressure of future talks

Xabi Alonso thinks it’s not the time to talk about whether he’ll stick with Bayer Leverkusen beyond this summer. In his presser before tomorrow’s game against Augsburg, most of the questions circled around his contract situation.

“I always say that the communication with Simon [Rolfes] and Fernando [Carro] is very clear. And, when there is something to decide, we will be very direct,” Alonso said. “The trust between us has always been very important, and it stays that way.

“There is no pressure on the timing of the decision. The situation is clear. There’s a moment for everything. So we need to wait a bit.”

Alonso has a contract at Leverkusen until the end of next season. However, Real Madrid is keen to replace Carlo Ancelotti with their former player. The Spaniard has won all domestic trophies with Die Werkself in his first role as a first-team head coach.
